ANNOUNCING THE ACADEMY OF FUTURE COACHES PRESENTED BY KING RACING

The Collegiate Rowing Coaches Association and King Racing Shells is proud to announce the development of the Academy of Future Coaches. Both the CRCA and King Racing are committed to investing in the future of collegiate rowing by growing interest in the profession, creating stronger candidates for programs, and empowering future coaches to be leaders, make tough decisions, and elevate the sport to the next level.

The Academy of Future Coaches Presented by King (AFC) will provide a virtual workshop for current student-athlete interested in pursuing a career in collegiate coaching where they will learn the basics of recruiting, NCAA Compliance, rigging, training, and team management. More importantly, they will learn and discuss hot topics within collegiate athletics and learn to navigate the NCAA climate of administration and athlete well-being.

Along with these rowing and industry-specific skills, these future coaches will participate in career and personal development through resume reviews, Strength Finder assessments, and mock interviews with industry professionals.

“The Academy of Future Coaches is an exciting leap forward for the CRCA and Women’s Collegiate Rowing! This will not only demystify the ‘how do I become a college rowing coach,’ but it will also prepare those future college coaches for the nuances of coaching that extends beyond the basic mechanics and physiology.  The AFC is going to be the coaching conference that will allow future coaches to be truly ready for collegiate coaching, as well as give them a platform and supportive network to persist and thrive.”- CRCA Executive Director John Gartin

The first annual event will be held virtually to ensure accessibility for all who are interested in participating and will take place June 26th to July 26th with two 90’ virtual session per week.

The Academy of Future Coaches is of no cost to attendees and open to current NCAA Rowing student-athletes who will be entering their final year of competition during the 2023-2024 season and those whose eligibility ended at the conclusion of the 2023 season.
